To meet the Australian student visa requirements (Subclass 500), applicants must demonstrate they have sufficient funds for their stay.
The minimum financial capacity requirement for 12 months of living costs for a single student is currently AUD 29,710 (updated as of May 2024). Travel expenses are estimated at AUD 2,000.
Note: This is the official minimum required by the Department of Home Affairs. Actual living expenses can be higher depending on the city and lifestyle.
Most Australian universities operate on a two-semester system, which are the main academic intakes for international students.

Some universities, particularly those offering intensive courses or vocational programs, use alternative structures:
Trimester System: Universities that use a trimester system will have three intakes per year. In this model, the Trimester 1 and Trimester 2 dates you provided are generally correct, but a third intake exists:
Trimester 1: Starts late February/early March to late May/early June
Trimester 2: Starts late July/early August to November
Trimester 3: Starts late November/early December to February (often used for fast-tracking, electives, or remedial courses).
You have to begin working on your application at least six to eight months before your program starts, especially for the main Semester 1 intake, to allow time for processing, securing a visa, and meeting document requirements.
